Hair Extensions Aftercare Guide
Looking flawless is a two-way street: we do the install, you do the care.
First 48 Hours – The Golden Window
- Do not wash, tie, or use hot tools—this gives the bonds time to lock in place.
- Treat it like a setting ceramic—let it fully set to avoid slippage and ensure longevity.
Daily Detangling – Treat Like Royalty
- Use a soft bristle or wide-tooth extension brush. Start at the ends, gently working upward.
- Brush twice daily and hold at the roots while brushing to minimize tugging.
Washing – Gentle, Not Often
- Shampoo once or twice weekly, unless needed after workouts.
- Always use sulfate-free, paraben-free, extension-safe shampoo and conditioner.
- Apply conditioner only from mid-lengths to ends—avoid the roots/bonds/tapes.
- Rinse with lukewarm (not hot) water and gently pat dry.
- Always dry your hair and extensions fully after each wash to prevent matting or bond damage.
Nighttime Care – Set It & Forget It (Properly)
- Always brush hair before bed.
- Secure in a loose braid and sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce friction.
- Never go to sleep with wet hair—this causes matting, mildew, and weakens the bonds.
Styling – Heat with Respect
- Use a heat protectant before blow-drying, straightening, or curling.
- Keep tools below 180 °C (350 °F) to prevent brittleness and breakage.
- Avoid applying direct heat on the bonds.
Water & Outdoor Exposure
- Chlorine and salt can dry out and fade extensions—rinse immediately after swimming.
- Use UV-protectant spray in the sun.
- Wear a braid, bun, or cap when in water.
Maintenance Appointments – Non-Negotiable
Book move-up/refresh appointments every 6–8 weeks to avoid matting and tension.
Daily Moisture & Styling Products
Use a light oil or serum on mid-lengths and ends to seal in moisture.
- Avoid heavy serums or conditioners at attachment points—these can loosen bonds.
